catholicismalltheway asked:

I noticed that a good portion of gun control measure attempt to limit the performance of firearms (limited mag capacities, outright ban on some guns, special applications for silencers, bans on certain type of ammo, etc). I feel that all firearms (everything from single shot rifles to class 3 weapons are dangerous and have the potential to kill. A problem with current gun legislation is that it deprives law abiding citizens of the ability to own certain types of guns that are very effective. Instead of limiting the performance of firearms, wouldn’t it be better to make more laws which restrict who can buy guns? Personally, I think it would be good if the government required gun owners to provide fingerprints/facial photos, give dna, take an eye exam, take a psychological evaluation, prove that they can safely store the guns, and have a background check. It would also be better to increase penalties on illegal gun sales and gun crimes. Wouldn’t it be better to have this type of gun control system instead of our current system. I think that they should just repeal all gun laws which restrict performance (including the ban of 86 and other laws like that) and replace it with this system. Wouldn’t that be even more effective than our current system? Honestly, I think it would be fair for shooting enthusiasts (such as myself and many other people). Criminals will always have the ability to kill (even if they don’t have guns). They can always use knives, cars, pipe bombs, etc.
But what if it meant that you could buy fully automatic uzis/other class 3 weapons and armor piercing ammo?

Do You like Candy

MrFreedom asked:

It seems to me that what works in D.C. or New York City does not fit with Montana or Texas. It also seems to me that federal gun control legislation, sweeping the entire nation with one brush stroke, doesn’t work for anyone.

Could we not give the states back their autonomy and allow for them to rule on this issue? I think all D.C. wants to do is to be D.C., and the same for Montana. Forcing both to compromise their stance on firearms only makes both parties miserable.

Proposal:

Someone in Congress should draft an amendment, not a law, but a true constitutional amendment, invalidating all federal gun control legislation, past, present, and future, on a certain future date. Perhaps six months from now would work.

This would give the states, and D.C., enough time to draft their own legislation to cover any gaps they feel are missed by the departure of the feds.

After all, the 2nd Amendment was a safeguard against tyranny by the federal government, so it makes no sense to allow the federal government to legislate and “infringe” upon this freedom while at the same time keeping some Orwellian database on who can or cannot be permitted to own a firearm.

Find Financial Banking Advice

He said he wants to permanantly ban all hanguns, semi-auto’s, and some shotguns. He also wants to do away with the ‘grandfather clause’ and make it illegal to possess any guns purchased before his ban goes into effect. You will have to wait for 30 days to buy a gun. He and Biden are also proposing reinstating a ‘much stronger’ version of the 1994-2004 Clinton gun ban that the Republican Congress let expire in 2004. This new band would be permanent without being up for renewal option! Basically they are disarming law abiding citizens, but doing so in small increments. With The Democrats having a fillibuster proof Majority in the Senate and House, Obama will be able to implement and pass this gun control on America as the numbers are there in the Senate. They already have 58 seats out of 100. No, I am not a Republican, and am darn sure not a Democrat. I am an American that votes 3rd party every time. Who agrees with me that the cities they ban guns in have the highest crime rates? A criminal can get a gun anywhere. This legislation is targeted at LAW ABIDING CITIZENS and nothing more. Do you agree with what they said they are going to do on January 20, 2009, by signing the confiscation of guns into law? Look at the President-elect’s voting record as a Senator on every piece of gun legislation in the past. Who in their right mind would allow a 500% tax on ammunition and all guns? People have told me ‘Congress won’t let him do it’, however I disagree as they have enough of a majority to do whatever they want for the next 2 years. So, the question of the day is…Do you agree with what they are doing come January or are you for it??? When is enough enough? Sincerely, an average American struggling to pay the mortgage and keep gas in my car. No I am not a right winger or a gun freak either. This coming legislation just seems very disturbing to me.

People are asking for my sources. Well, here they are…Us senate.gov(look at his voting record) and NRA. People are accusing me of lying already. Check it out people, they are going to do this stuff. They have 58 senate seats so far out of 100 with 2 races still up in the air. What more sources are needed folks? Peace out.

Find Online Hosting Information

Do you understand that nowhere on earth has anti-gun legislation affected gun based crimes? (Ie. Australia has completely banned firearms and the firearm crime rate has increased, because the criminals, who, by definition, disobey laws, will not turn in their weapons, but they will now know that their future victim pool is less able to defend itself than ever before)?
Yes australia’s gun ban WAS a reaction to a mass shooting. and the desired effect did not happen. who cares if that country has a different rate of crime than our country? Their crime rate is not the point, but how banning guns affects crime!
no legal guns=only criminals with guns=higher crime!
this has been PROVEN time and time again.
The media machine is already at it pushing the idea of a total gun ban. As I type, ABCnow online is pushing this idea with their ‘jounalists’ asking questions about the ease of access to guns in the US and how much better it would be without guns (because without guns, no one can be shot!)
hahaha how rediculous

Personal Banking Financial Blog

I was just wondering if there were any idiots on YA that are for more gun control or bans. I don’t know anyone personally that is for it, so is it just a few big shots or are there really people not in politics that believe in it.
