My last update for a while due to us moving (maybe 2-4 weeks). Authorities will have to answer to God when they abuse their power, however. This extreme form of Christianity(all violence is sin movement) is too much and it is one of many things that is tearing the body of Christ apart. You will see what you want to see in Romans 13, but Paul meant what he meant.

Lurasman , the roman authorites of that day were pagans and therefore did not bear the Word of God at all. Can you name any current government that exists now or existed when Paul wrote Romans that followed the Word of God(what you said is the meaning of sword)?
Paul meant what he meant, lets not make it confusing. It is possible to be too “radical” of a Christian. The governments have their right by God to use their guns against evil(theft,murder,rape whatever).
ILoveJesus131, I agree that one should not only stand there when someone is being raped, however I still don’t believe that it justifies killing anyone. Romans 13:1-4 you’ve taken completely out of context. He’s not speaking of a real sword (to kill), but of the word of God “the Bible” aka “word, spirit” as it conflicts with people’s desires and ways of life. What it’s explaining in that passage is that although there are rulers or even rapists out there, not to fear as God is more powerful.

This would mean that just being a police officer is sin since they have to use violence everyday. Now we know that is not true because it is written in Romans 13 that they are ministers of God and revengers to execute wrath upon them that do evil. that they do not bear the sword/gun in vain.

The best thing I can do for those who believe any act of violence is sin is to ask them why did Paul say what he said in Romans 13:1-4 especially verse 4. Why did he say they do not bear the sword in vain and that he is free to execute wrath on those that do evil. Also policemen HAVE to use force/violence to handcuff a man.

We are not to get into fights. Oh you called me a bad name and so i am gonna beat you up is a no no. We are instead to turn the other cheek. Thats the proper context. paul is not saying that if someone came and attempted to rape your daughter right in front of you, with you standing freely, that you are to sit there and do nothing.

What people don’t understand is that attempting to remove this man from your helpless daughter is NOT an act of hatred , but an act of love. You can still love the man you are pulling off your daughter, but to sit there and do nothing would be just plain evil and I can almost guarantee that if you were in that situation, you would not sit there and do nothing, because you do love.

Around 8 minutes you talk about the obligation which falls back to the American people, but one thing you do not mention is equally wicked:
The money the government operates in is not money. They don’t go to the people saying “We need more gold coins to pay this debt”, they have a much more crafty way of obtaining the money equally from everybody: They simply print more.
This causes inflation, and this causes all of the money we might have in savings to decrease in value.
I believe all violence is wrong. Eph 6:12, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.”

Fighting one another is not fighting the enemy. We pray, we fast, we stand up in truth, which is how we serve Jesus Christ, but honoring His commandment to love one another.

Notice that it also says he is a minister of God a revenger to execute wrath upon them that do evil. Don’t you think that would include using that sword/gun? This is New Testament teaching not old. Murder is wrong, you are right there, and murder is killing of the innocent.

Notice that they do not bear the sword in vain. Police officers are ordained by God.

Do you believe all violence is wrong? is it wrong when a police officer pins a murderer to the ground in order to handcuff him? The Bible says clearly that Jesus is for the authorities and that Jesus actually decreed that there would be authorities on this Earth.

Some people say Jesus is refering to buying the Word of God and using sword as a metaphor but when you read it for what it says Jesus is clearly nodding that two physcial swords is enough. Vs 37 explains why Jesus wanted them to have swords, because Jesus will be captured, not to protect Jesus with swords, but themselves.

36Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
37For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
38And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
Read onto vs 53-56 in Matthew 26 to understand why Jesus was mad. Does it say Jesus was mad because Peter hurt the man? No. Jesus was upset because Jesus’s captured was decreed and supposed to happen. Also the disciples were told this already, yet Peter still tried to stop what God decreed. Keep in mind the only reason Peter had a sword is because Jesus told him to get one.

Jesus said “for all who did take the sword, by the sword shall perish” -Matthew 26:52
Jesus rebuked Peter when he tried to protect Him by the way of the flesh. It doesn’t matter what we may call it (self-defense or protecting our loved ones). Hate-murder is considered sin in the eyes of God and it is not necessary to keep/protect our rights as christians to worship living God.
