Oh Im not expecting them to do anything for me. What I am trying to understand is if people are saying this potential law is as bad as they say – where is the NRA? I assumed the NRA and such organizations would lead the charge. But could just be timing and such. Since the NRA does not seem to be too concerned about this I not going to worry about it too much.
As to the NRA, its a good group, but they cant do everything for you. As of today I think it has a small chance of passing do to it being constantly tied up in debate. Back to the NRA, it only a few days ago noted the bill on their website. Almost a month after its introduction.

Google “HR 45 tracker” you can follow the bill’s progress. Hopefully it dies where it stands now. Write your sens and reps if it gets to that point. I only found out about this from an MSN story in the money section! Fear Factor: Gun sales on the rise is the title.

This Bill gives the Feds the right to break down your door and search your home for guns.
This Bill can…and probably will…be used for Political Persecution.
The threat of the Feds being able to search your home can be used to Silence people from speaking out.
This Bill will kill the 2nd Amdmt.
But it will be used to kill the 1st Amdmt.
I debated removing your comment, because it starts off completely off subject. But you fixed it later on. Simply put, I check The website listed in the info box weekly, and I found this one and thought the bill needed attention. An unwatched goverment is an out of control goverment.
You really need to get a life and start getting your news from a real source. These sorts of bills are introduced constantly and after they go to committee they usually go away long, long, long before they see the house floor. This would be no different than if some Senator introduced a bill to cut off everyone’s fingers to cut down on shoplifting. Just because a bill is introduced does not mean it is close to being voted. The reason you have not heard about this is because it is meaningless
Bobby Rush should be impeached for violating his oath of office. Rush, or ANY official, does NOT have the authority to abrogate an inalienable RIGHT. No court has this authority, either. “… Shall NOT be infringed.” The government cannot deny any one of us our firearms any more than they could deny us wearing our shoes. Impeach Bobby Rush!
Thanks for the clarification. Didn’t mean to sound sarcastic. I’m in NE Ohio, and wasn’t aware of any public shooting ranges other than those that are privately owned/operated.
I have to agree with our host here. You shouldn’t require a license to exercise a right. I can accept background checks but disagree with some of the current disqualifications.
Licenses to hunt. The money goes to maintain public hunting areas, and keep it fair. Has nothing to do with firearms. An operators license for firearms would use the money collected in the license to fund shooting ranges, and gun safety courses. Could keep some of the abuse of the current public ranges from getting out of hand. Could actually nurture the firearm industry in a positive way. This would be the only, and I repeat only licensing I would support.

To tell you the truth, I would much rather die fighting for something that I strongly believe in rather than dying from a mosquito bite or eating a peanut butter sandwich. To those of you out there who believe that the Second Amendment is not that important, I would say that in that case, the First Amendment and the other Amendments should not be that important to you either because once you start rewriting one, then all of the others will soon follow.
I am so happy to see that there are other people out there who feel as strongly about the second amendment as I do. I am going to make a promise to all of the proud gun owners who read this that I will never get a license for my guns, I will never register my guns with the government, I will never be fingerprinted for owning a gun, and I guarantee you that I will never give up my right to own a gun to anyone. I am dead serious about this and so are many other gun owners out there.

A right shouldnt need a license to be exercised.
By operators licensing on public ground would allow for some funding to build shooting ranges, and training. There is no reason we couldn’t have this. A car or airplane is far more deadlier than firearms. Look at the stats. This way a private owner on private land would not have his rights infringed upon by owning and operating a firearm on their own property. Now as far as gang bangers illegally operating a firearm without a license on public property. HANG ‘EM HIGH!
