Are you for or against the GUN CONTROL legislation Obama-Biden are passing in January?

Who agrees with me that the cities they ban guns in have the highest crime rates? A criminal can get a gun anywhere. This legislation is targeted at LAW ABIDING CITIZENS and nothing more. Do you agree with what they said they are going to do on January 20, 2009, by signing the confiscation of guns into law? Look at the President-elect’s voting record as a Senator on every piece of gun legislation in the past. Who in their right mind would allow a 500% tax on ammunition and all guns? People have told me ‘Congress won’t let him do it’, however I disagree as they have enough of a majority to do whatever they want for the next 2 years. So, the question of the day is…Do you agree with what they are doing come January or are you for it??? When is enough enough? Sincerely, an average American struggling to pay the mortgage and keep gas in my car. No I am not a right winger or a gun freak either. This coming legislation just seems very disturbing to me.

They have 58 senate seats so far out of 100 with 2 races still up in the air. What more sources are needed folks? Peace out.

NO I DON’T AGREE WITH IT! OUTLAW GUNS AND ONLY OUTLAWS WILL HAVE THEM! It’s a lot easier to grab a handgun out of a drawer when someone invades your house than to grab a rifle or shotgun in an effort to defend yourself. I personally believe it’s a violation of the Constitution. The “right to bear arms” should be kept.

I **** useless gun control legislation just as much as everyone. The only legislation I agree with are background checks for people buying them and that’s it. I live in California and right now I’m complaining about some of the stupid laws we have for firearms. However, don’t believe in everything that the NRA says about Obama or other politicians because some of their statements about them are inaccurate. Also, what ever gun laws that were supported by Obama in Chicago does not apply to the rest of the nation. Plus he has the economy and war to worry about. His support for banning semi automatic wpns is disturbing though. If that’s the case, I will go out and protest my @ss off.

The president can’t do anything regarding legislation except perhaps recommend. The only people who are not aware of what this guy is are the ones who voted for him. He has a record, albeit short, and gun grabs and taxes are the mainstay of this guys political history. He voted to raise taxes on those making as little as $42,000 while in the Illinois Senate. Like every other lib this guy is scared of guns because they offer the only threat to tyranny.

i am back and forth on this issue. i mean i am for gun control because the only person i can trust with a gun is myself and some police officers. i do believe it should be harder for people to get their hands on a handgun. have them do a longer background check if they have to just to find out who the guy buying really is. but i also believe that everyone has the right to own a rifle and when i say rifle i dont mean assault rifles i mean hunting rifles or little 22. rifles. yes i will be the first to admit assault rifles are fun but i dont see the need for a civilian to own one. we are not in a country that is not threatend to being invaded and an assault rifle isnt the best thing for home security. if you want home security buy a shotgun or install an alarm system

It accuses Obama of voting repeatedly for a measure that would “make you the criminal” in such cases, and voting to “deny citizens the right of self-protection.”
It would be fair to characterize Obama as voting to uphold enforcement of local gun bans, even in cases where the banned weapons were used in self-defense. But the NRA goes too far when it claims that he voted “to deny citizens the right of self-protection” generally. He did no such thing. The vote would have had no effect at all in places that didn’t have local gun bans in the first place.

It falsely claims in mailers and TV ads that Obama plans to ban handguns, hunting ammo and use of a gun for home defense.
The NRA bases this overheated claim on a vote Obama cast on March 24, 2004, in the Illinois state Senate. He was one of 20 who opposed SB 2165. That bill, which passed 38 – 20 and became law, did not make it a crime to use firearms for self-defense, however. Rather, it created a loophole for persons caught violating local gun registration laws.
