I think it is very hard to pass any law that limits anything people think as a freedom. Bills have so many compromises and loopholes attached to them that they stall.
I think they will have to. Especially after American’s have been effectively “Scared” from Mr. Bush into thinking that terrorism is going to eat their children.

Well, if they do try to change the laws, and since they are the ones without guns….. what do they have to back up whatever they put on a piece of paper?
Americans bought guns after 9-11. The fear of terrorism will grow when the next terrorist action takes place on our soil…. and it will now that the dems have some control of our government. That’s why the Muslim terrorists were celebrating the election results and partying over it! They know what it means.
I do not think Americans will stand for being told, in the present world environment, that they do not have a right to arms to defend themselves. It would be a major political mistake if they push for gun control now.

No, many of them are blue dog democrats, one’s a former sherrif and supports 2nd amendment rights, I don’t think gun control will be an issue
My guess is they will make their best attempts to appear moderate and not spot light their socialist agenda. They will do their best to retain the power that they have won. Hopefully they realize that most people mearly voted against Bush and NOT for the Democratis agenda. Ive no doubt that they will fail no matter what and Republicans will gain power back at the next senate race.

Very few of the newly elected Democrats support gun control. The old guard does and control the committee assignments. But the prospects for anything beyond studies is lower than you might think.
Now, 2008 is a different game…
