The criminals will still have them because the guns they have are not registered and the authorities don't know who has what and they have ways of obtaining them from illegal sources. Personally I think every state should have a concealed carry law so that LAW ABIDING citizens can arm themselves and be prepared in the event that your life is threatened. My legally carried .40 cal S&W Semi-Auto with 15 rounds, saved my life and resulted in a major change of attitude when a thug tried to do me harm, and I did not have to fire a shot, just looking down the barrell gave him pause.
