Where do police officers and other law enforcement stand on Gun Control Legislation?

I’m a Criminal Justice student and am asking that only law enforcement personnel answer this question, it’s for a paper I’m working on.

Generally, they would prefer if the general public didn’t have uzzis.
There are certainly exceptions, but most of the police force would prefer stricter gun controls simply because they end up dealing with so many household deaths where one person shoots another.
If there is a gun in the house, you’re more likely to die being shot by IT than being shot by a gun from outside the house.
Since there are SO many legal guns out there, it is pretty easy to steal one for illegal purposes.
I have yet to hear one say “Well, if only people were better armed, we wouldn’t have so many gun crimes.”
I’m sure there are some out there, but they are in the vast minority.
it dosen’t really matter cause the bad guys will find a way to get them. in texas securty are now being allowed to carry guns like police,, thats good and bad…some of them are well trainned others are goof-balls. you can say the same about the cops to.
Most of the rank and file police officers nation wide DO NOT support gun control.
Usually behind the gun…………. pulling the trigger
Well, I can tell you that’s I’ve bought several guns from police officers and I’ve also sold a few to them. Most think that guns are a necessary evil and job security. Without guns, innocent civilians become victims and thus that means less taxes and less money going into the policeman’s funds.
Most street cops support the second amendment and the rights of law-abiding citizens to carry firearms for protection. It is usually the chiefs of city police departments who oppose the citizens right to use firearms for self-defense. I have found that they are more politician than police officers and do not speak for the majority of their officers.
There is a solid majority of Police Officers that DO NOT support gun control. There are many reasons, some of us are hunters, participate in competition target shooting and others that agree that we can’t be everywhere and everytime there is an armed bad guy and that people in general have the right to defend their life or someone else’s, just like we do.
The Media is very selective on who they talk to in regards to this subject. Individual Officers often by Dept. policy are not allowed to identify themselves as a Police Officer when engaged in public policy or political matters. Only the Administration can do that. Which is why you see the Administrators are all for gun control.
