Why are the “Conservatives” and the NRA spreading rumors about a bill that died 2 yrs ago?

I have seen 5 answers now purporting to have information about “new” gun control legislation introduced as Blair/Holt or HR 45. That bill was introduced in 2007 and died in committee with no support. Why won’t they give any real, current info?

They are talking about h.r. 45 Blair Holt’s Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009 and introduced on Jan 6, 2009.

Is that real and current enough?
It suits the NRA’s purposes to keep people in a constant paranoid dither. It fills their coffers and helps them use their sheep as a political wedge for a thoroughgoing right-wing agenda– the REAL purpose of the NRA.
The bill may have died in 2007, but after changing the year on the bill ,it can be presented again and again until it has support.
