H.R. 45 will only regulate the weapons on the honest citizens in this country, not those weapons used to commit crimes. As an 17 years former law enforcement and corrections officer, I know without a doubt only law abiding citizens will meet the requirements of H.R. 45, not the persons who commit the violent crimes in this country, who use illegally obtain weapons.
As of today I cannot own a firearm because of a law passed to forbid persons convicted of domestic violence to possess one. Is it unfair? Is tracking firearms like this unfair? Lets see…good luck with it all I say. Just more laws, and complicating life more. I still have a baseball bat, plenty of knives, probably can purchase a tazer, and all sorts of potentally harmful stuff. I don’t need a gun. Wouldn’t mind owning one, but there is no urgency for one. Buy the way, my conviction was in 1995, my wife then & I were married 1yr. We are happily married today & get along great. Going to court would have ruined our marriage & cost a lot of money for an attorney so I took a plea. She since has been diagnosed Schizo-effective Disorder and is properly medicated w/ Abilify & other stuff. Would a gun in my home made a difference before or after our incident? I say no, but every case is different. I wasn’t the psycho back then but we were both wrong and 2 wrongs don’t make a right.
